Elaine Marquez McHugh, NMD, is a California licensed Naturopathic Medical Doctor. She graduated with Honors from Bastyr University California, an accredited four-year naturopathic medical school. Elaine received her BA with a double major in Integrative Biology and Art Practice from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to attending medical school, Elaine was a Certified Nursing Assistant, a CPR and First Aid instructor for the American Red Cross, and a stay-at-home mother while her husband pursued his career as a Navy Diver.
Elaine has always believed the human body possesses the innate ability to heal itself and that everyone should be treated as individuals, which is why naturopathic medicine spoke to her. She has consistently found value in treating the root cause and treating the whole person. Elaine’s main goal for her patients is to empower them to rise above obstacles in their lives and achieve the optimal health they deserve. She hopes to create long-lasting, doctor-patient relationships and to aid her patients in feeling healthy while living the best life they can, in the most natural way possible.
Her passions in medicine include regenerative and anti-aging medicine, sports and performance medicine, mind-body medicine, integrative medicine, and functional medicine. Elaine specializes in prolotherapy, PRP joint injections, PRP facial rejuvenation, IV therapy, complex chronic illness, and mind-body medicine/biofeedback. She treats a wide range of ailments seen in primary care in addition to more complex chronic diseases and stealth infections such as mold infections and Lyme disease. She also offers treatment for mental health, stress, anxiety, and adrenal fatigue.
Elaine is a San Diego native, born and raised in Oceanside. She is a mother of two and enjoys spending time with her family, especially at the beach. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, surfing, reading, baking cupcakes, and lifting weights with her husband.
